Let the GP be k, kr, kr2 , kr3 ......... , where k is first term and r is the common ratio.
(p+q)th term = k × r(p+q-1) = a ............(1)
(p-q)th term = k × r(p-q-1) = b ..............(2)
if we multiply both the eqn.(1) and (2), we get, k2 × r2(p-1) = a×b or ...............(3)
