First of all quantisation means the existance of a quantity in discreet quantities.
Charge as we know today is due to presence or absence of electrons (protons dont exist independently in usual conditions).
Thus the charge itself gets quantised to e (charge of electron)
However further brakdown of even electrons and protons have been achieved, and we know an even smaller unit called quark having +- 1/3 e
