Dear Student,

The solution for the problem posted by you is -

The given equations         

using the substitutions

the above equation can be written as

2u + 3v  =2  -------(1)

4u - 9v = -1  -------(2)

Now, multiplying the equation (1) by 3 and adding to equation (2) gives us:

10u=5

and hence u=1/2. Substituting value of u in any of the above equations (1) or (2) gives us v=1/3

As we have values of u and v,

we can find the values of x and y:

and similarly  y = 9.
