Answer:

Since (x - 2) is a factor of

x3 + ax2 + 6x + 16,

if we put x = 2, the expression value will be zero.

23 + a22 + 6(2) + 16 = 0,

a = (-16 - 12 - 8)/4

a = - 9

and since a - b = 6,

b = -3.
