Sodium is highly reactive metal.
The oxides of sodium are very stable.
Sodium have more affinity for oxygen and carbon. So carbon is unable to remove oxygen form its oxides.
It cannot convert metal oxide into free metal.
Hence oxides of sodium cannot be reduced by common reducing agents like coke, carbon monoxide or hydrogen.
