overcasting of dr side of cash book

Expert Answer

A cash book records all cash receipts on the debit side and all cash payments all the credit side. Excess of debit side total over credit side total represents cash in hand and therefore, overcasting of debit side will result in over valuation of cash in hand which will ultimately over value the assets on a particular date.

On due date, bill returned dishonoured and bank paid Rs.50 as noting charges. After one week B paid the full amount of the bill including the noting charges.
