One Number is twice another number.if15 is subtracted from both the numbers,then one of the new numbers becomes thrice that of the others new number . find the numbers.

Expert Answer
Let the numbers be x and 2x
After subtracting 5 from both, the new numbers are : (x-5) and (2x-5)
given information : (2x-5) = 3(x-5) = 3x-15 ......................(1)
By solbing eqn.(1), we get x = 10 : Hence numbers are 10 and 20
