Let the numbers be x and 2x

After subtracting 5 from both, the new numbers are :  (x-5) and (2x-5)

given information :  (2x-5) = 3(x-5) = 3x-15  ......................(1)

By solbing eqn.(1), we get  x = 10 :  Hence numbers are 10 and 20
