Dear Student,

(a)The balanced chemical equation for the reaction of heating copper (II) nitrate in a boiling tube,

Cu(NO3)2 + heating      →     2CuO(s)     +    4NO2(g)   +   O2(g)
Copper (II) nitrate                Copper        Nitrogen dioxide   Oxygen

(b) Brown gas evolved is nitrogen dioxide gas (NO2)

(c) It is a thermal decomposition reaction.

(d)  pH range of the aqueous solution of the gas X i.e. NO2 gas.

Aqueous solution of non-metals generally form acidic solution.
Similarly aqueous solution of NO2 forms acidic solution with pH range 1 to 6 or below 7.
