In conductor, average time between two consecutive collisions of electron with ions at the lattice sites is defined as relaxation time. It is assumed that electron after collision forgets it’s past motion and starts a fresh with zero velocity. The force due to electric field produced by voltage difference is eE. The acceleration is (eE/m). The velocity acquired by the electron in time t is called drift velocity, Vd. Then,                         ( ma = eE => a= eE/m)

Vd=(eE/m)t.
