Dear student
Null points are situated symmetrically on either side of the magnet at equal distances from the centre in east-west directions if thr north pole of the magnet faces geographic north pole. But the null points are on either side of the magnet at equal distances from the centre in north-south directions if the south pole of the magnet faces geographic north pole. If the compass needle is placed at the null points, it reamins unaffected.
