The Grand Trunk Road was a famous and the longest road build by Sher Shah Suri. This road connected Sonargaon in Bengal (now in Bangladesh) to Peshawar (now in Pakistan) in the northwest.
To make travelling easier for the travellers, many shady trees were planted on both sides of the road. Many ‘sarais’ or inns were also built for merchants and travellers.
