(d) Meiosis is called double division because each of the phases-prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase occurs twice.
     Meiosis- I is called reductional division because the number of chromosomes reduce to half, during the meiotic division.
     Meiosis-II is called equational division because the number of chromosomes remain same at the end of meiosis II.
