Mahmud’s invasion of India drained away the wealth and riches of the country. It was with the help of these riches that the magnificent city of Ghazni was built. Second, the invasion and plunder of Mahmud exposed the weakness and rivalries among the kingdoms which existed in Northern India. This paved the way for the further conquest of the country by other foreign invaders.
