The framers of the constitution provided every state with some guiding principles which are meant for promoting the ideal of social and economic democracy. These guiding principles have been named as Directive Principles of State Policy. Some of its features are:
  • Directive Principles are instructions to the state to follow socio economic development.
  • They are not enforceble by the courts. It means that no one can approach the courts for the enforcement of the principles.
  • They aim at the creation and  establishment of the welfare state by securing social and economic justice.
  • Directive Principles especially guide the state for the development of lower caste, class and economically poor people.
