Democracy is the best form of government. Two arguments for democracy on the quality of government and social life are:

  • A democratic government is a responsive and legitimate government which is elected by the people. The government knows that if they do not work for the betterment of the people, the people may not elect them in the next election. Hence a democratic government is a welfare government which aims at the upliftment of the downtrodden section of the society.
  • In a democracy, people are granted fundamental rights and freedoms. It helps in the development of important social and personal traits among the people.
