may I know how the uttarakhand floods took place.what is the science behind this ???

Melting of glaciers coupled with monsoon rains, triggering overflow of rivers, were responsible for the Uttarakhand tragedy.
Here are a few points to describe the Uttarakhand floods:
- The land of Gods was swallowed and completely destroyed by flood water caused by sudden cloudburst
- The entire area destroyed and affected is considered to be approximately 40,000sq km.
- More than 1 lakh people have been saved while around 3000 people are still missing or struck
- The area affected include Kedarnath, Badrinath, Uttarkashi, Yamnotri, Rudraprayag, etc.
- The main aid provided are from Indian Armed forces, Indian Air Force, Indo-tibetan Border Police, etc.
- The state governments still need a wake up call to extend extensive help
- The question remains unanswered as to whether this national calamity would mar faith of humans in Almighty?
