Mam,How does the velocity and acceleration point to opposite directions when speed decreases.

Expert Answer
Speed and velocity are both vectors.
Speed is the rate of change of displacement with time and acceleration is the rate of change of velocity with time.
Thus when the speed decreases, even when it is still positive, i.e the body is moving in forward direction, the acceleration would be negative, as the velocity is decreasing.
