Expert Answer
Convex lens is used for the following purposes
1) magnifying glass
2) objective lens of a microscope and a telescope
3) in theatre spot lights
Concave Lenses
Eyeglasses have one convex surface and one concave surface. Such glasses can bend the light by the right amount before it gets to the eyes.
Concave lenses also make details look clearer. So they are often used together with convex lenses in ’optical systems’ to help clear up any details that are lost due to flaws in the convex lens. For example, many high quality telescopes and binoculars use concave lenses to improve the detail of the images they provide.
