As shown in fig.1, we need to connect 4 capacitors in series to get potential difference less than 300 V
across each capacitor, if the the potential difference across the combination is 1000 V.
Equivalent capacitance of 4 capacitors of each of capacitance 1 μf in series is 0.25 μf.
Since we need 2 μf capacitance we need to connect 32 capacitors as shown in figure 2,
so that 8 group of capacitor combination are connected in parallel and each group consists of
4 capacitors connected in series
