Expert Answer
Having money in your pocket is positive. So John has "3", Virginia "5" and Alex "0"
Now it is easy to see that Virginia is richer than both John (5 is more than 3) and Alex ( 5 is more than 0).
Alex is poorer than John (0 is less than 3) and John is poorer than Virginia (3 is smaller than 5), and hence Alex is the poorest.
