Is there any criteria by which the priority order of functional groups decided in nomenclature of organic compounds? what are they? (-COOH > -COOR and so on)

Carboxylic acid > Salt of acid> Ester> Amide> Nitrile> Aldehyde> Ketone> Alcohol> Amine> Ether> Arene> Alkene> Alkyne> Alkane

Alkoxy, halo, nitro, vinyl, alkyl, allyl and phenyl are treated as substituent and have equivalent priority.
