Expert Answer
Dear student, first of all please remember that convex mirror always forms virtual and erect image no matters what the position of the object is.
The sign conventions can be easily remebered by understanding the New cartesian Sign convention.
The focus of the convex mirror is virtual. The image is always formed to the right side (behind the convex mirror). Thus, the focal length is taken to be positive in the case of convex mirror and image distance will be positive. While the position of the object is always considered to the left side of the lens. Thus, the object distance is always taken negative while solving the problems/ numericals using mirror formula.
