Is it possible to increase the sensitivity of an instrument?

Yes it is possible to increase the sensitivity of an instrument. However, many instruments cannot be modified after manufacturing.
 
But, some instruments like galvanometer can be modified. The manufacture can conveniently increase its sensitivty by increasing the number of turns of the coil.
This will increase the sensitivity of the galvanometer as sensitivity is directly proportional to number of turns (N).
