In what ways did the annexation of Bijapur and Golconda prove harmful for the Mughal Empire?

The annexation of Bijapur and Golconda added to the vastness of the Mughal Empire. It now became difficult for the Mughals to control such a vast empire comprising the rugged and hilly regions of the Deccan. Further, the conquest of these two states brought them into direct conflict with the Marathas.
