In what ways atmosphere assist in weathering?

Temperature,rainfall and winds are imporant elements of atmosphere. They assist in weathering in the following ways:
Temperature: When the dirunal range of temperature is extremely high, the rocks get disintegrated into fragments. For example, when the temperature during nights are extremely low, the water which gets percolated into the cracks of the rocks, freezes to form ice. This results in the expansion of rocks. When this process is repeated several times, the rocks gets broken into several peices.
Insolation weathering, is the result of the physical inability of rocks to conduct heat well. This inability to conduct heat results in differential rates of expansion and contraction. Thus, the surface of the rock expands more than its interior, and this stress eventually cause the rock to rupture.
Rainfall: Rainfall may cause chemical weathering. It occurs when rocks are broken down by a chemical change. Rainwater can become slightly acidic by absorbing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and this reacts with the mineral present in the rock giving rise to new minerals and salts.Acid rain is also a contributor to chemical weathering. When fossil fuels such as coal, gas and gasoline are burnt they release oxides sulphur, carbon and nitrogen into the atmosphere. These gases combine with moisture in the air to form sulphuric acid, carbonic acid and nitric acid, making the resulting rainwater more acidic than normal. Acid rains changes the composition of rocks and reslts in weathering.
Winds: Wind can carry small particles or sand and rocks such as in sandstorms in deserts. When these particles collide with rocks they can wear them away.
