In topography if they ask us to give the highest point on the map extract ..then do we have to consider only the spot height number or we have to compare the triangulated height number as well . For e.g. if spot height no.is 277 and triangulation height no. is 377 then which is the highest point in the map extract??

You first need to understand about what is a spot height and triangulated height;
Spot Height: The height of random places between contours shown with a dot. E.g. - .415
Triangulated Height: It is the height of a place which has been calculated using trigonometry, represented by a small triangle e.g. - Δ512.
