In the figure, ABCD is a trapezium in which AB||DC. Prove that ar(AOD) = ar(BOC).

AB||CD

ar(ADC) = ar(BCD)

[Triangles on the same base and between the same set of parallel lines have equal area]

Subtracting ar(DOC) from both sides, we get,

ar(ADC) - ar(DOC) = ar(BCD) - ar(DOC)

ar(AOD) = ar(BOC)
