In the circuit shown below, the current that flows from a to b when the switch S is closed :

Once the key S is closed as shown in fig(a), 5Ω resistance is getting shorted.
Hence as shown in figure 10Ω and 20Ω are connected in parallel to 10 V battery.
Potential difference across each resistance is now 10V. The path a-to-b is connected to 10Ω resistor.
Hence the current in the path a-to-b is 1A as shown in fig(b)
