In group 1 of periodic table , 3 elements A,B and C have atomic radii 95 pm,133 pm and 65 pm respectively.Giving a reason, arrange them in increasing order of their atomic nos of the group.Explain?
C < A < B
As we move down the group, the number of shells increases.
This effect of having an extra shell of electrons outweighs the effect of increased nuclear charge.
Hence the atomic size increases.
