CBSE Class 11-science Answered

in cathode ray discharge tube experiment when pressure in the tube is 10 to the power -2 atm. the gas in the tube glows but when the pressure is 10 to the power -4 atm. then the glow becomes weak! explain in brief why this happens?

At 10-2 mm pressure the gas emits a stream of rays which are responsible for colour but at 10-4mm it cannot emits rays as at 10-2atm. thats why  the glow become faint
