In ΔABC, BE and CF are altitudes on the sides AC and AB respectively such that BE = CF. Using RHS congruency rule, prove that AB = AC.

In Right Triangles BEC and CFB

BEC = CFB (90o each)

BE = CF ( given)

BC = BC (Common)

BCE = CBF (CPCT)

BCA = CBA (same angle)

In ABC, we have:

BCA = CBA (Proved above)

AB = AC [sides opposite equal angles are equal]
