Expert Answer
When we change the volume control knob, we are essentialy changing the impedance
offered by the transistor and hence effective power that is required to run the
speaker at that particular volume.
Higher volume of the speaker needs higher power and since power depends on the
impedance value so by changing the impedance we can get the desired value of the
power. The answer to your question is impedance in short.
