Let the total students appeared = 100
Number of students failed in Math = 7.5 % of 200 = 15 students
Number of students failed in Science = 22.5 % of 200 = 45 students
Number of students failed in both subjects = 5 % of 200 = 10 students

Total failed students = Failed in Math + Failed in Science - Failed in both
= 15 + 45 - 10
=50

So, the total passed students in both subjects = 200 - 50 = 150
Actual number of passed students in both subjects = 120 (Given)
if 150 students passed, the number of students appeared = 200
If 1 student is passed then the number of students appeared = 200/150
If,120 students actually passed then, the number of students actually appeared = (200 × 120)/150
=24000/150 = 160 students appeared in the examination
