In a club, two-fifths of the members play badminton and three-fourths of the members play lawn tennis. If 30 members play none of these two games and 120 members play both, find the number of members in the club using a Venn diagram.

Let x be the total number of members in the club. As per the given information, Venn diagram is drawn and shown in figure.
 
Total number of members x is calculated as follows:
x = members playing only Badminton + members playing only lawn tennis + memebers playing both + memebers playing none of the games
 
x = [ (2/5)x-120 ] + [ (3/4)x-120 ] + 120 +30 ............(1)
 
Solving the above eqn.(1) for x, we get x = 600
 
Hence total number of memebers = 600
