Answer:
At surface there is a pressure of 1 atmosphere. Hence we need to find the depth of water to get pressure of 3 atmosphere.
 
Since for mercury the liquid column height is 76 cm and its density 13.6 g/cm3 , the required depth is 3×76×13.6 = 3101 cm = 31.01 m
