If🔺ABC and 🔺BDE are the equilateral 🔺s, where D is the mid point of BC, find the ratio of areas of 🔺ABC and 🔺BDE.

Expert Answer
Area of equilateral triangle of side a = (√3/4)a2 . Hence area of equilateral triangle is proportional to square of its side;
if side of equilateral ΔABC is a, then side of equilateral ΔBDE is a/2 .
Hence area ratio of ΔABC : ΔBDE = 1 : (1/4) or 4:1
