if a substance is heated its Temperature as well as Volume increase. please clarify?

1) when we supply heat to a substance the first thing that happens is an increase in temperature. This is because the temperature is the measure of heat. So, more heat means more temperature.
2) Any substance is made up of atoms and molecules. When heat is given to that substance, the atoms and molecules start vibrating faster and move away from each other. This causes the substance to expand, that is, the volume of the substance increases.
