If a person holds his breath after expiration for about 25 sec,  would there be occurrence of any exchange of respiratory gases in the lungs during this period? Explain.

Yes there will be exchange of respiratory gases. The residual volume (thvolume of air remaining in the lungs after the most forcible expiration possible of our lungs) is 1200 ml. So, when we hold our breath, exchange of gases occurs due to residiual gases in the liungs.
