If 'g' does not depend upon the mass then , if a feather and a stone is thrown at the same time from the same distance , then why does the stone reach first ?

Expert Answer
when an object is moving in air, the object is subjected to drag force in the direction opposite to its moving direction.
Hence when the stone and feather are dropped simultaneously from a height, both are subjected to drag force.
This drag force is negligible for stone compare to its weight(force due to gravity), but this is not negligible for feather,
because of its very low mass. Hence the drag force affects the feather and significant effect of slow movement is observed.
But in the case of stone, this drag force is negligible and its movements are not affected significantly.
