Time taken by tha paket to reach ground when it is dropped from a height h above earth's surface = ...........................(1)
At equator acceleration due to gravity = 9.78, at poles acceleration due to gravity = 9.835.
This difference is due to the flatness of earh's shape near pole.
Hence earth's surface at pole is near to earth's core compare to equator. Hence acceleration due to gravity is more.
Since from eqn.(1), time is inversely proportional to √g, at pole the dropped packet takes less time to reach earth's surface.
