CBSE Class 12-science Answered

I want to ask that whether the sides of the 7 lattices of primitive section are specific. I mean to say that are the sides a,b and c are arbitrary or they are fixed. Can we take any of the sides as a,b and c. I have the same query with angles also.

They are not arbitrary. The three-dimensional unit cell is defined by three edge lengths (a, b, c) and three inter-axial angles (α, β, γ). In the same manner four-dimensional unit cell is defined by four edge lengths (a, b, c, d) and six inter-axial angles (α, β, γ, δ, ε, ζ).
