answered-by-expert Expert Answer
Vietnam was ruled by China for a long time before it was occupied by France. The Vietnamese culture was thus influenced by the Chinese culture. Confucianism was practised along with Buddhism and other religious practises. Early Vietnamese nationalists had a close relationship with Japan and China. In 1911, the long established monarchy in China was overthrown by a popular movement under Sun Yat-sen, and a Republic was set up. Inspired by these developments, Vietnamese students organised the Association for the Restoration of VietnamVietnamese were also inspired by the success of communism in China. Ho Chin Minh, a Vietnamese nationalist established communism in North Vietnam.
