Expert Answer
(1) Take two thermos-flasks A and B.
(2) Keep some germinating seeds in flask A and some dry seeds in flask B.
(3) Insert a thermometer in each of the flasks and close the mouth of the flasks with a cork.
(4) Note the initial temperature of both the flasks.
(5) After two days, again note the temperatures of the two flasks.
(6) There is a rise in temperature in flask A, showing that germinating seeds respire and produce heat.
(7) Flask B shows no change in temperature, indicating that dry seeds do not respire and so, no heat is liberated.
