how we decide the no. of isomers of an element? what is the criteria for it?
for eg-pentan has 3 isomers so how it was decided that only 3 are there?
Hi Nikki
Unfortunately, there is no formula or any particular rule for calculating the number of isomers of an organic compound. You just need to know that the number of atoms must remain same in all isomers. Use permutation combination way. Once you know this, you will easily be able to calculate the number of isomers.
