The city of New Delhi was constructed by the British in the following ways:

  1. Broad, straight streets were constructed in the new city which was supposed to be resided in by British officers.
  2. Several sprawling bungalows were constructed by the British in the middle of large compounds along the streets.
  3. The new city of Delhi was built in open and clean spaces with lines of trees and parks.
  4. Adequate arrangements were made to ensure regular and clean water supply to the city.
