HOW TO IDENTIFY CLAUSES?

Asked by Punnukam 9th March 2017, 8:12 PM
Answered by Expert
Answer:

A clause usually contains a subject and a verb. So identify the verbs and the verb phrases.

Clauses are joined with the help of conjunctions. So the next step is to identify coordinating and subordinating conjunctions.

Example:

Kiran woke up early today because she had her exam.

Main clause: Kiran woke up early today

Subordinate adverb clause of reason: because she had her exam
