How to find the given rational number is terminating or non-terminating without actual division ?

If p/q is a rational number such that the prime factorisation of q is of the form 2n5m, where n, m are non-negative integers. Then, x has a decimal expansion which terminates.
 
In 11/12, q = 12 = 2 x 2 x 3 , which is not of the form 2n5m. Thus, this rational number has a decimal expansion which is non-terminating repeating.
