Expert Answer
Hi Adityanshu,
The opening and the closing of the stomata is regulated by the guard cells. When water enters the guard cells from the subsidiary cells by the process of osmosis, the guard cells swell. This results in the opening of the stomata. When the water moves out of the guard cells, the guard cells shrink. This closes the stomatal pore and consequently, the stomata close.
