ICSE Class 10 Answered
How refractive index changes if blue is replaced by red light in glass
Asked by vijaygireesh | 06 Jul, 2018, 07:53: PM
Expert Answer
Refractive index is the property of medium and related to the frequency of incident light.
Refractive index itself does not change in glass. we change frequency of incident light and the respective
refractive index decides how much refraction should take place.
The refractive index of red light in glass is 1.513. The refractive index of violet light is 1.532.
Violet light slows down more than red light, so red light is refracted at a slightly greater angle
in comparison with red light
